STRONG BEGINNINGS:
Alice Hyde Medical Center senior leadership
and board of directors, Franklin County officials, RLPS Architects, and PC
Construction representatives held a groundbreaking ceremony on Aug. 2.
A reason to celebrate
In honor of its 100th anniversary, Alice Hyde Medical Center held a “block party” on
campus. The event featured free health screenings; educational materials; a historical
display; food; live music by local band SoulShine; and many activities for children,
including the “Mr. Yuk”magic show presented by Kurt Trautmann, director of pharmacy.
President and CEO Douglas F. DiVello and Auxiliary President Marilyn Johnston gave a
commemorative address.
Local businesses and individuals donated time, goods or services or participated in
making this day special. Over the past 100 years, the Medical Center has provided high-
quality, low-cost health care to the more than 55,000 residents of the North Country. We
look forward to serving our community well into the future.
An update on our new nursing home project
Groundbreaking for Alice Hyde Medical Center’s new skilled care and assisted living
facility—the rst facility of its kind to serve the northern New York region—took place
on Aug. 2. Among the distinguished guests were Sen. Betty Little and Assemblywoman
Janet Duprey.
The $35 million project includes the construction of a skilled-nursing facility and an
assisted-living facility. The residents of the Alice Hyde and Franklin County nursing homes
will relocate to the new facility in late 2014.
“For several years, we have discussed the idea of consolidating the two nursing homes
through the construction of a state-of-the-art facility,” says Douglas F. DiVello, President
and CEO. “I am pleased to work with PC Construction and RLPS Architects to provide a
quality facility that will elevate the level of care available in our community. I am con dent
the move to a more residential model will exceed the expectations of our patients and
residents and improve the overall quality of care delivered.”
