A backyard of their own
Silver & Black Gala
a great success
The Alice Center, Alice Hyde Medical Center’s new skilled care and assisted-living
facility—the only one of its kind in our region—will open early next year.
The new facility continues to take shape. A key priority is to ensure that the
courtyard, the central focal point of the Alice Center, is every bit as impressive as the
building itself.
“If you have a parent or grandparent living in a nursing home or senior residence,
you know how important it is for your loved one to have access to a safe outdoor
environment. An outdoor courtyard will give our residents a backyard of their own,
one where they can plant flowers and vegetables, play cards with friends, or just
enjoy quiet time with family members,”says Alice Hyde’s President and CEO, Doug
DiVello.
The Kinney Drug Foundation agreed that having a beautiful and well-designed
courtyard would greatly benefit our residents. The foundation has graciously
pledged $50,000 to the Medical Center’s mission to provide a “backyard of their
own” at the Alice Center. Each year for five years, the foundation will give $10,000 to
Alice Hyde. “We are grateful for this generous contribution from the Kinney Drug
Foundation and excited to watch this project take shape,” says DiVello. “We are now
confident that the vision of having a beautiful and well-designed courtyard will
truly become a reality.”

Alice Hyde Medical Center has made
great strides this year to bring new
technology and services to the
residents of the North Country.
For the second consecutive year, Alice
Hyde was named among the nation’s
MostWired hospitals. We are one of only
two hospitals north of Albany to receive
this award. As we continue to strengthen
a collaborative approach tomedicine in
the North Country, the use of technology
is crucial.We havemade tremendous
gains by using information technology
to share crucial patient information
electronically with specialists and other
care providers, which improves the
quality of patient care.
This year we launched a new model
for cardiology services in Malone
between Alice Hyde and CVPH Medical
Center, an affiliate of Fletcher Allen
Partners. CVPH cardiologists now see
patients at Alice Hyde two days a week,
allowing patients to receive specialized
cardiology care close to home, which
ultimately helps with their treatment
and recovery.
As we move into the future we will
continue to expand services across our
region, enabling people to receive the
right care as close to home as possible.
Alice Hyde Medical Center held its fifth annual
Silver & Black Gala on Saturday, Sept. 6. The Gala
raised funds for the Outdoor Courtyard at The
Alice Center. Nearly 120 people attended the
Gala, which raised over $36,000 for the courtyard
project.
Although the Gala has passed, community
members can still contribute to the courtyard
fund at the Alice Center by mailing a donation to
Alice Hyde Medical Center, Department of
Community Relations, 133 Park St., Malone, NY
12953 or by going to
alicehyde.com
and clicking
on “Give a Gift.”Your tax-deductible donation will
help provide residents with “A backyard of their
own.”
